About the memorial: (This is taken from a previous version of the home's website)-The Scottish Naval and Military Veterans' Residence - ROSENDAEL , 3 Victoria Road, BROUGHTY FERRY ,ANGUS . The dwelling house was donated by Dundee Jute Baron , John Normansell Kyd in Memory of 2nd Lieutenant FRANK PROCTOR KYD, East Surrey Regiment attached 11th Battalion the Royal Warwickshire Regiment killed in action 18 August 1916 and buried in Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuile , France . This young officer's grave is in the Somme . The Kyd family left their mansion in Broughty Ferry and an endowment of £10,000 to Scottish Veterans' Residences to run a home for Veteran Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen following the death of their son killed in action." The residence is set back from Victoria Road and accessed via an entrance opposite Albert Road. The original building was constructed in 1850 and renovated in 2003.
