About the memorial: Screen with an arched window to either side. The first window depicts a khaki clad soldier walking before the figure of Jesus, carrying his cross. The second shows a soldier dying and the Saviour supporting him. A third arched window, which may or may not have been part of the memorial (reports are unclear) depicts a single figure, surrounding the Resurrection. After closure the Church was used by the True Jesus Church from 1982. Around 1991 the windows were found, bricked up, soon before demolition, in preparation for the current Church on the same site which was opened in 1994. Arrangements were made for removal of the windows to a museum. But before that could happen there was a serious fire which destroyed the memorial.
