About the memorial: Brass Plaque. The Church was destroyed in an air raid in 1943, It was subsequently replaced by Joplings Store which closed in 2010, was demolished and replaced in 2019 with Jopling House student accommodation. The plaque was not recovered for the new St Thomas' Church on Petersfield Road, Pennywell.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Captain Gordon Haswell K.O.Y.L.I. who fell in action at the Battle of the Somme July 1st 1916 aged 24 years, Also Lieut. Frederick Haswell East Yorkshire Regiment who fell in action at Ypres April 23rd 1915 aged 19 years. Dulce et decorum est pro patia morti [the wording is from the unveiling report so may not be totally accurate]
