About the memorial: The Highlanders memorial was erected to remember all those who served and died in service when cap badged as Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) during the regiments service as an infantry regiment of the British Army (17 Sept 1994 to 28 Mar 2006). It is a sculpture in stainless steel of the Highlanders iconic cap badge and gaelic motto erected on a sandstone pillar and stands 5.0m tall. It is located on grass near the river Spey at Fochabers which was traditionally the centre of its recruiting area. The sculpture was by Jason Sweeney and the builders were 'At Home Construction', Buckie. The project mananger was Major (retd) Maurice R M Gibson MBE (Highlanders regimental secretary).

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
