About the memorial: Oak Altar and Canopy, also a paper Roll of Honour in a glazed wooden frame, divided into 3 panels, which was originally fitted to the front of the altar but was later attached to the wall. The Roll of Honour has now been donated to Beamish Museum , having been replaced by a brass plaque in 2014-WMO/248380 (which also includes later conflicts). (the Church remains open for worship). It would be useful to know if the Altar and (in particular) the Canopy survive. If so it would probably be better to separate them out to a linked separate report.(the

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
