About the memorial: Three brick built terraced two storey cottages with a sandstone dedication tablet. The pin location is generic in Shotley Bridge as they are not on Google maps and postcode finder gives no other address details. It would be useful for someone to clarify the exact location. After WW1 the cottages were occupied by disabled soldiers and a war widow. By 1992 they had been empty for 10 years, and had been vandalised. They were due for demolition but were restored by the Shotley Village Trust and are now maintained by the Shotley Bridge War Memorial Cottages Trust. In the right hand front garden is a dressed stone relating the restoration and adding the 'all 20th century conflicts' dedication. In the left hand front garden is the WW2 dedication stone.
