About the memorial: 'At the close of the Great War, 1914-1918, a sum of £215 was subscribed by 380 contributors for a war memorial. A marble tablet, with the names of the eight men who had fallen inscribed upon it, was placed in the church, and a clock, striking the hours, in the church tower. A book was also presented to the church, it contains the names (68) of all the men from the parishes of Kirby Bedon and Whitlingham who took part in the war. The Bishop dedicated the tablet during service. Subsequently, after Evening Service, Colonel W. H. Besant declared the clock unveiled and it was "set going" by Mrs. Hall of Kirby House."
