About the memorial: A memorial inside the cemetery chapel commemorating the 52 who were killed by a German air-raid on a factory 11th Sept. 1940. The memorial was re-dedicated on 10th Feb. 1991. The memorial consists of a wooden board with a later book of remembrance below.

Board - Roll of Honour Sep 11th 1940 Battle of Britain (Names) During World War II This Factory had a fine record producing Wings and Fuselages for Hurricanes and Spitfires On the afternoon of Wednesday September 11th 1940 6 German Bombers flying at a low altitude dropped 16 bombs on this factory, a number of which fell on 'B' Building. In this attack, 52 people were killed and 92 injured. The scars from the attack can still be seen in the steelwork supporting the mezzanine Floor in 'B' Building. Plaque above book - This Roll of Honour is dedicated th the memory of those workers Killed on September 11th 1940 at the Cunliffe Owen Aircraft Ltd. (currently Ford Motor Company) The re-dedication service took place on Sunday 10th Febuary 1991 attended by the Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Mrs M. Key, together with relatives and friendds of those killed.
