About the memorial: Oak Board with a wide border which bears the dates and patterns of leaves with roses in the corner, carved to stand proud. The Latin quotation is in the bottom edge. The board is divided into three panels. The centre panel is sub divided into a smaller panel at the top which bears the name of the school. The lower central panel has names in two columns. The two outer panels have painted names in a single column. Found in a skip in 2010 and gifted to the Heugh Museum. There are a total of 98 names (surname, initials of forenames, rank and regiment) in no obvious order, although other sources state that 108 had fallen, of over 500 who had volunteered. The School had closed in 1974. Before demolition in 2001, it was part of Hartlepool 6th Form College until 1999 and was primarily the art department. A care home has been built on the site.
