About the memorial: Polished Oak Board with moulded frame. The main panel is divided into three sections. At centre top is the dedication, with two columns of names below. This is flanked on either side by a single column of names. One of the teachers of the previous School, Mr Theophilus Jones (1905-1913) left to become Headteacher of Thringstone School (q.v.). He was the first British soldier to die on home soil in the Hartlepool Bombardment of 16 December 1914, and is the first named casualty on this memorial. 102 men fell, of 614 old pupils who had served. The School, before WW1, was at Longhill. It relocated to the current premises (which are themselves WMO/286595) after the war.
