About the memorial: Composite. Clock with blue face and gold Roman numerals, protected from above by an overhanging roofed frame, with a brass dedication plaque on wooden backboard inside the Church. Below the WW1 plaque was an abutting plaque for WW2 At St John's Church (closed) originally. Following the closure of the Church the plaques initially moved to Blackhall St Andrew's Church and then to Hesleden Community Centre. When the Community Centre closed they moved to the Primary School. The fate of the clock and the bell are unknown. When the memorials were moved to the Community Centre they were placed on a new oak backboard, side by side (as opposed to below each other as originally), together with a separate plaque for the fallen of 1915 which had been in the Church. On the new backboard the 1915 plaque is to the right of the overall WW1 plaque, and above the WW2 plaque
