About the memorial: Pre existing memorial tablet and memorial bench, supplemented on 4 December 2021 with a blue plaque- the weekend before the 80th anniversary of the crash on 7 December 1941. The blue plaque on its own would not constitute a war memorial, but does in combination with the other elements. He was a Pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force who died at this location steering his crippled plane away from town residents
