About the memorial: The band has been through several formats and is currently the Blackburn and Darwen Band based at the Bridge Street Sports and Social Club, where I have placed the pin. Their website states that the band struggled to survive the losses of WW1. It is not known where the original bandroom was. Local knowledge might help. A solid oak panel delicately patterned to a design constructed by Messrs. Harwood Allanson and Co. At the top, in an oval panel, in embossed letters was the inscription: Darwen Borough Band Roll of Honour Below are the names of 91 members of the club. In a centre panel are the names of 13 men who gave their lives
