About the memorial: Stone tablet in an oak frame. One of three war memorials on the south wall. The frame is very heavy, in Renaissance style, with pediment and fluted pillars, standing on a stone base. Within the frame are also photographs of the fallen, with the names on the tablet numbered to correspond with the also numbered photographs, all for WW1. The glass frame is beaded in and can easily be taken out at any time should the photographs require alteration or removal. Below a slate slab has been fixed between the bottom of the frame and stone base. This is pierced by three brass rimmed square frames containing photographs with names, ranks and regiments for WW2. There is a brass rail surrounding the monument. The Club has changed it's name over the years from Workmen's Club to Working Men's Club. In around 1920 the Club also published a book "What a Club did in the Great War" which lists the other 291 members who served, the eight members who won decorations, the story of how the memorial was created, the many charitable efforts supporting those left behind and local Belgian refugees. It also tells of the Welcome Home celebrations at the Club including the gift of an individually named gold medal to each soldier. This is not a memorial in itself, as it was a mass produced item, but is a most valuable adjunct to the memorial
