About the memorial: Chapel built by public subscription and designed by Fellowes Prynne as an addition on the south side of the Chancel. It is a Church within the Church,, having a nave separated from the main Church by a delicate three bay arcade of richly moulded arches on clustered piers. The Chapel has a Chancel arch leading into a sanctuary, originally separated from the nave by two steps. The Chapel is properly called St George's Chapel, otherwise known as the Warriors Chapel, and in some sources as the War Memorial Chapel. The windows in the apse depict Christ the King, St George and twelve attendant saints - Barbara, Damian, Francis, Edmund Rex, Alban, Joan, Nicholas, Christopher, Oswald, Alphege, Vincent and Stephen. They are bolder in style with arches of art nouveau and are executed in vibrant colours with much purple and viridian There are a number of memorials in the Chapel (plaques, stained glass windows, sculptures, Roll of Honour, and an oak reading desk/chair as an individual memorial), which have their own reports (WMO/287783 to 287787), otherwise this report would get very complicated.
