About the memorial: The photograph ("date approx." 2002) shows plaques which indicate that a Sanctuary was restored in 1953 to remember the Men of Tetbury. Previous comments state the location is unknown. I have recently (23 May 2022) made enquiries at St Mary the Virgin, Tetbury as to its whereabouts and have been told: "It was in fact originally in St. Marys' and located at the side of the chancel from 1953 until at least 1992/3, when a large restoration of the whole church was carried out. This work included a further restoration of the sanctuary after which a further wooden plaque was erected stating: "The church and sanctuary were further restored and reordered 1992-3" This plaque was originally below the two plaques that you are looking for but now sits alone. You no doubt saw this on your visit, and it does make sense that the two plaques should have been above this one as it makes reference to a "further" restoration which is odd without any reference to any earlier one. Unfortunately the original plaques must have been removed at some stage and it is not known what happened to them. ..... Sadly without the original plaques the later one does not give the whole picture, and worse still, from your point of view, does not commemorate the war dead, as did the originals."
