About the memorial: Trees. From the Press report it does not appear that the field, covering 8 1/2 acres, was part of the memorial, just the trees. The article states that 23 trees were planted by a total of 26 people (?), one in memory of each man of the Church who had fallen. But only the names of 14 are listed. It is not clear where on Yarm Road the field was, so the pin is placed on the only 'green' area on the road. Anyone who can fill in the question marks on this report is welcome to do so. As the Church has been closed for decades, it would be interesting to know who now looks after the field, and whether or not the trees are still there. The Church does not seem to have had any other memorial to be able to answer the question of whether 14 or 23 men fell, so we have to take the published list of 14 as being correcty.
