About the memorial: A rectangular memorial to 18 Police Officers from B Division (Everton and West Derby) of Liverpool City Police who died in WW1, which includes photographs of 13 of those casualties. The memorial also includes annotations re whether each of the 18 men had been a member of the Police Cricket Team, Football Team or was a boxer. Though not verified, it is likely that the memorial was originally installed shortly after WW1 in Prescot Street Police Station (which at the time was the HQ of Liverpool City Police's B Division, i.e. Everton and West Derby Division). That Station closed in the early 1970s. (In 1967 Liverpool City Police merged with Bootle Borough Police and became 'Liverpool and Bootle Constabulary'. In 1974 it amalgamated with other local Forces to form Merseyside Police). What became of Liverpool City Police's B Division WW1 memorial is unknown, but Merseyside Police fortunately have the attached image of it, which they have very kindly provided
