Status: On original site
Type: Freestanding
Location: Internal
Setting: Inside a building - public/private
Description: Roll of Honour or Book of Remembrance
Materials:
  • Metal Brass
  • Timber Oak
Lettering: Inscribed on a plaque
Conflicts:
  • Second World War (1939-1945)
About the memorial: A Roll of Honour in the form of a table on which stand short pillars that support an oak board. Columns divide the three brass plaques bearing the casualties' names, which are attached to the back of the board. The board is surmounted by a triangular pediment which has a carved depiction of the Liverpool City Police. Parts of the inscription are carved into the wood. (N.B. The brass plaques bearing the names listed only the casualties' Police collar number and surname. The letter before each surname is not the initial of their forename; it is instead the suffix letter of their Police collar number, and denotes which Police Division they were attached to. For example, "Constable 259 D Voce" was actually Thomas Voce of D Division in Liverpool City Police).
