About the memorial: A Rectangular framed panel, which comprises two sections. The upper section has a Merseyside Police crest, which is surrounded by a mosaic/collage of poppies (some of which have hand-written messages, such as 'We will always remember the people who lost their lives, the soldiers that fought and served' and 'We will always remember the families that lost loved ones'). The lower section is etched with the names of 160 WW1 casualties from Merseyside Police's heritage Forces. Between the upper and lower sections is a small wooden panel that bears the inscription. (Some of those named on this memorial are also commemorated on the memorials that were erected shortly after WW1 by their original Police Force, i.e. Birkenhead Borough Police, Liverpool City Police, St Helens Borough Constabulary, Southport Borough Police, Wallasey Borough Police; see our separate records re each of those memorials. The identity of further casualties from those former Police Forces who are named on the memorial was ascertained from research undertaken by volunteers from Merseyside Police). It is Behind the Reception desk, facing the front door.
