About the memorial: Recreation ground and trees. It is debateable whether this should be raised as one or two records, but it is being kept as one here. The trees were lost over the years and the ground seems to have then lost it's memorial status. The reason for the loss of the trees is unclear. However they were replanted in 2005 to 2006. At the replanting the name appears to have changed from Harmondsworth Recreation Ground to Sipson Recreation Ground. This area is intrinsically threatened by the proposed third runway for Heathrow Airport. The trees are said to commemorate 417 local casualties, but it is unclear how many trees there are, and whether there is any commemorative plaque. There are nothing like 417 trees and in fact very few that look as young as 20 years old. There are no plaques beside any of the trees (or anywhere else in the park) to mark any commemorative war status- so whether this really qualifies as a war memorial is open to substantial debate.
