About the memorial: Stained glass window of two lights. The left hand light depicts a soldier. Behind him is an angel pointing to the other window, which depicts Christ holding out his hand to the soldier. Above the pictures, running across the two lights, is a scroll bearing the words “If thou / hadst not gone / before / and taught us”. The rest of the quotation is carried across the bottom of both lights: “Who would / dare to follow”. The dedication is carried across the bottom of both lights. There is a brass plaque which bears the dedication. Relocated when all Methodist worship in the town was concentrated at Dawson Street
