There is an inscribed inset panel on Face 1 of the base, and on Face 3 half way up the obelisk there are two incised characters. The obelisk sits in a field adjacent to the Waterloo Wood which was planted from acorns sown after the eponymous battle. Momument and trees are adjacent to the road but it is not clear whether they are on private land and therefore readily accessible.
