About the memorial: Stirling bomber donated by Lady MacRobert in memory of her three sons killed in the service of the RAF. The first, Alasdair, died in a flying accident in 1938 and the other two, Roderic and Iain, during WW2. The first plane, N6086, was written off after an accident in February 1942. The name was then given to Stirling W7531 but it was brought down in May 1942. Two other aircraft have carried the name since then, a Blackburn Buccaneer and a Panavia Tornado. They carry the name MacRobert's Reply and bear the MacRobert crest. The aircraft have had various locations due to their nature but have always been associated with No 15 Squadron. Note that 15 Squadron disbanded on 15 May 2017. On 16 May 2019 four Aquila aircraft were unveiled, belonging to Tayside Aviation, which will be used to teach cadets how to fly, carrying the tradition forward. The original aircraft was paid for by a £25,000 donation from Lady MacRobert. The MacRobert Trust still exists and is Scottish Charity SC031346. Contact Tayside Aviation before visiting as these are working aircraft. The original aircraft were based at RAF Lossiemouth, Muirton Road, Lossiemouth
