About the memorial: 3 light window with a dedicatory brass plaque below. The inscription is incised in red and black lettering. Sir Robert died of sunstroke in Bombay in 1848. This might not sound like a very good basis for inclusion on this website but he was a serving naval officer commanding the Her Majesty's Indian Navy. He is included in the IWM Register.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

This Window is erected to the Glory of God and in memory of Sir/ Robert Oliver Kt. Captain R. N. Commander in Chief of Her Majesty's/ Indian Navy who suddenly from the midst of an active life and in the/ faithful discharge of his duties to his sovereign and his country was/ called to his rest. He died at Bombay of sunstroke on the 5th August/ 1848 and was buried in the Cathedral there. (...)
