John Alexander. 2nd Lieutenant 8th Leicestershire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Maria Alexander, of Drumbeg, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. His brother Robert also fell same month and year and commemorated on the same memorial. Killed in action 15 July 1916 aged 24. His father was granted a gratuity 12 February 1917. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Robert Alexander. Private 17134, 13th Royal Irish Rifles Son of Thomas and Maria Alexander, of Drumbeg, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. His brother John also fell same month and year and commemorated on the same memorial. killed in action on the first day of the battle of the Somme. 1st July 1916 aged 19. His mother was granted a war gratuity 6 September 1917 revised 8 October 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Henry Parker Beggs. Captain B Coy Royal Irish Rifles. Son of Samuel and Minnie Beggs, of Chestnut Villa, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. Died on the first day of the battle of the Somme. 1st July 1916 aged 26. His father was granted a gratuity 10 April 1918. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Robert James Bell. Private (Acting Lance Corporal) 9423 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Died of wounds in 17th General Hospital Alexandria 1 June 1915. Enlisted at Ballykinlar Army Camp, County Down His mother Sarah was granted a war gratuity 26 January 1916 revised 2 July 1919 now called Mrs Sarah J Grey. Commemorated on the Chatby Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt. John Benson. Sergeant 17178, 11th Royal Irish Rifles. Enlisted at Lisburn resided at Dunmurry County Antrim. Killed in action 16 August 1917. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. Herbert Blakely. Corporal 9437, 7th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Enlisted at Ballykinlar Army Camp County Down, resided at Dunmurry County Antrim. Killed in action 9 September 1916. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Joined up as Bertie Blakely and in listed with same name on GWGC. Thomas Ernest Bruce. (Military Medal) Private 16274, 15th Royal Irish Rifles. Son of Thomas and Charlotte Bruce, of Woodview, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. Died 20 October 1918 aged 22. At rest in Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Belgium. Herbert Daley. Ordinary Seaman SS/4231 Royal Navy on HMS Pathfinder. Born 18 October 1894 at Lurgan County Down to George and Sarah Ann Daley, of 16, Milfort Avenue, Dunmurry, Co. Antrim. His mother Sarah was informed of his death. Died at sea 5 September 1914 aged 21. Commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent. Samuel Dick. Lance Corporal 2559, 12th Royal Irish Rifles. Enlisted at Woolwich and resided at Dunmurry County Antrim. Died 26 June 1917. His widow was granted a war gratuity 23 October 1917 revised 11 December 1917 and 17 November 1919.
