About the memorial: A detailed, ornate, hand-made paper Roll of Honour, which has been remounted and framed. The sheet has a triangle arch at the top, within which a vested priest is portrayed pronouncing the blessing at the end of an open-air Mass for a congregation of soldiers. The altar is set in front of a ruined church, the Calvary of which has escaped damage. Each side of this scene are two laurel wreathes, within which are written verses from the Old Testament. These are set on top of classical columns which extend down the sides of the sheet. At the centre of the left-hand column is a figure of Victory, beneath a crossed sword and rifle, and the date 1918. Opposite, on the other column are the flags of the Allies above the inscription Peace, beneath a white dove, and the date 1919. The columns sit on a panel reaching across the bottom of the sheet. At the centre of this are the Papal Arms, with a Naval engagement depicted to its left, and a battlefield scene to its right. The name of the Church is in illuminated script beneath the central scene at the top, above the initials YMS. There is a dedication in a scroll beneath this. The names are written in calligraphy in a central panel over three columns, with those who died being marked with a cross. On the wall of the Memorial Chapel on the South side of the church
