About the memorial: Small stone of remembrance at a busy traffic junction (Poole Road and Blandford Road), in an area which has clearly had a lot of community care in recent years. The war memorial cross for this area is at Lytchett Minster Church, a mile or so away from the present population centre. The new memorial has clearly been added recently to bring the names within the community, much of which is a residential suburb of Poole constructed well after 1918, even after 1945.. At first glance I thought the planter behind the stone was part of the memorial but it is not, being in honour of an individual who is not named on the plaque. It must be said that the silvery colour of the metal makes the plaque hard to read in sunlight and I did not fully discern the words until I magnified the photos.
