About the memorial: White tablet mounted onto a dark stone backboard. Relief carvings at the top of the tablet. There is a fine line in the definition of a war memorial. As he was returning from active service on leave I believe that this just falls within that definition.

(LIEUTENANT COLONEL HARRY LEE GIBBARD OF THE ROYAL (LATE BOMBAY) HORSE ARTILLERY, SON OF JOHN AND MARY GIBBARD OF SHARNBROOK, DIED IN PARIS 17TH MAY 1863 WHILE RETURNING TO ENGLAND AFTER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE WITH HIS REGIMENT IN PERSIA AND INDIA. HE WAS 38 YEARS OLD. THIS TABLET WAS ERECTED BY HIS BROTHER OFFICERS)- exact wording unknown.
