About the memorial: Wooden framed printed paper scroll/ statement of thanks to a service person with a motif above the words showing Lydney church and war memorial. A curious item with no explanation as to why the people of Lydney should present this to D J Moulton or why it should end up in Swansea. As it appears that the name was inserted by hand into a pre-printed document, it may be that all returning Lydney servicemen received one and that this is a rare survival. In any case, the museum is now closed and seeking new premises. Its previous location was at the end of a bleak industrial estate. The website promises that all items are securely stored with Dainton's of Swansea pending relocation, but are clearly not accessible to the public at present. Local knowledge would be welcomed as to future developments.
