About the memorial: An altar and reredos. The oak altar is covered by red altar cloths similar in design to Comper's 'Cathedral Comper Purple Damask'. Matching fabric is used in curtains that extend on rails at each side and in the baldacchino and covering the backboard of the reredos. The upper part of the reredos comprises a carved crucifix with two attendants and with two entwined dragons at the foot, all painted and gilded. The lower part of the reredos comprises a nowy-headed board with gilded carved border of entwined foliage and a green painted surface. At the centre of the board is a gilded bound laurel wreath enclosing a mounted St George slaying the dragon in relief, painted white, green and red and partly gilded. A pair of winged angels in relief supports the wreath and is painted white, red and partly gilded. A maroon panel across the bottom of the board contains the painted inscription in upright capital Roman lettering. It is in the St Michael and St George Chapel in the North Transept. CAPTAIN GEOFFREY WILLIAM PEPPERRELL ABRAHAM was the Son of the Right Rev. Charles Thomas Abraham (Vicar of Bakewell and Bishop of Derby) and of Mary Theresa Abraham. Born at Lichfield, Staffs. Educated at Cheltenham College. In business with E. and A. Robinson, Reddiffe, Bristol.
