About the memorial: An addition to the lettering on a limestone headstone on a family grave. The memorial comprises a headstone with a pointed arch top, a plain border, and with sides slightly splayed towards the foot. The inscription is inlaid in mainly upright capital block lettering. The headstone surmounts an oblong base with bevelled top and is accompanied by plain oblong kerbs and a small white marble tablet bearing an incised inscription which is now illegible. It is just south of the Church, next to the path. Note his links to Openshaw, further CWGC states that his wife later lived in Southport, where he is commemorated on WMO/140024. There is no current evidence that he is commemorated at Openshaw.
