About the memorial: Short granite stone of remembrance, situated close to the Newtonards War Memorial (WMO/149683). The 13 men killed when bombs were dropped on Newtonards airfield at 11pm on 15 April 1941 were aged between 16 and 36 (other information on social media says they were all young men, this is NOT correct). Of the 13 men 10 are interred in Northern Ireland, two in Great Britain and one is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial as his place of burial has not been ascertained. One of these soldiers is buried at Dundonald Cemetery-Fusilier George Graham (where a death occurs overnight at an unspecified time CWGC usually default to the latter date as in this case).
