About the memorial: The memorial commemorates 5 soldiers from the Machine Gun Platoon of the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment who were killed in an IRA ambush on an Army convoy consisting of 2 large roadside bombs at Narrow Water Castle outside Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland. A total of 18 soldiers died in the attack.
