About the memorial: Ensign Theodore David Bray, 39th Regiment. Son of Colonel Edward William Bray, CB. Fought in the Gwalior campaign against Maratha forces in India in Dec 1843. His father was commanding the 39th Regiment and was wounded in the battle. Ensign Bray died from wounds received in the battle on 23 Dec 1843 (most records show 29th Dec 1843). He is also commemorated on a memorial for the 39th Regimant in St George's Cathedral, Agra, India. Theodore's brothers, Edward and George, both went on to become Major-Generals.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
