About the memorial: This is a composite memorial of which the substantive part is a wooden three cornered memorial inset into the south western corner of the south transept of the Church, which has an intricate lattice decoration (for WW1 only). However the whole transept seems to be a remembrance area. There is also a kneeler (hassock), an embroidered Roll of Honour (for both wars) presented by the town Scout group, and a photograph commemorating Robert McClay killed in action 1 July 1916, although the photograph is of the altar- not of him. There is insufficient information in CWGC records to be able to positively identify him. It would be possible and valid to treat the various elements as several different records but my view is that they form an integrated whole.
