About the memorial: A recumbent square slate tablet on a stone base. The tablet has a large incised cross at the centre with the dates in the quadrants and the inscription in a circle around it. The incised inscription is in decorative upright capital lettering. The original Christ Church was demolished in the 1980's due to structural issues, and a new Church built on a slightly different site, but this tablet remains on it's original site. The names plaques for the Church are now at Erewash Museum- and are WMO/253495 and 253501 respectively- on those reports they are imprecisely described as being from Christ Church, Ilkeston.
