See also WMO/168614 for the names plaques which were relocated when the Church closed in 1996. The Church has been vacant between closure in 1996 and 2022. The Primitive Methodist Church memorial (which is for the circuit) is WMO/169475. The town's United Methodist Church ( which is long since demolished) is not known to have had a memorial. This is the contemporaneous description- " In memory of those who fell, and in thanksgiving for those who returned is shown Our Risen Lord holding the banner, symbolical of Victory over the grave, stepping out from the Tomb, with the seals broken and His hand raised in blessing to the World. This is the Hope and Consolation of all Christians, Victory over Death, symbolical too, of the Victory and reward of those who fell in service to their Country. The old Masters always represent Our Risen Lord holding the banner which floats from the Cross. This is a beautiful rendering of the Victory of the Cross. In the scroll user Our Risen Lorc-"I am the Resurrection.. ". In the small subject below is shown St George of England overcoming the Dragon. Put on the armour of God (Ephesians vi.11). This subject is especially suitable as a thanksgiving for those who returned."
