About the memorial: A nowy-headed limestone tablet with hollowed shoulders and stopped chamfers on the side and bottom edges. At the head is a small cross within an incised roundel and the tablet bears an inscription in black upright capital block lettering. The tablet is mounted on an oblong black stone backboard with the dates at the head. This is the Roman Catholic Church at the western end of Church Street near the junctions with Woodhead Road (B6105) and Hall Meadow Road, and is not to be confused with All Saints Anglican Church at the eastern end of the same street. The tablet is inside the church on the east wall, north of the door.
