About the memorial: An electrical installation, now lost, in the demolished Zion Methodist Church, originally accompanied by a brass plaque. The Church was closed and demolished in 1983 to 1984.Subsequently the plaque was remounted towards the bottom of the western face of an oblong, rough hewn, sandstone block and a supplementary brass plaque bearing an additional name was mounted below it. The inscription on both plaques was in upright capital lettering coloured white. Those plaques were stolen in 1997. Later (in November 1997), both plaques were replaced by a stone tablet now set into the bottom of the western face of the block. The tablet has a narrow chamfered border and the incised inscription is in upright capital block lettering. The tablet also has infilled holes in each corner. It is below the WW1 tablet (WMO/293456) on the western face of a stone block near the western boundary of the garden. The Memorial Garden itself is WMO/215268.
