About the memorial: A monument comprising a squat obelisk on a pedestal surmounting a three-stepped base. The cast concrete obelisk bears, on its 6 o'clock face, an oblong bronze plaque with a narrow raised border and an inscription in raised upright capital block lettering. The battered pedestal is also of cast concrete and has a bevelled top. The three-stepped base is formed from a number of cast concrete units similar in style to stone ashlar. The pin location is accurate although the Community Centre is not marked on Google maps. The memorial was installed in 1957. At the time of WW1 the area of the present Hollingwood estate was agricultural with only a few farms and cottages so the fallen from the area were included on the Barrow Hill (WMO/138929) and Staveley (WMO/121822) memorials.
