About the memorial: An oblong bronze plaque attached to the top of the drystone wall. The plaque has a plain raised border and the inscription is in raised upright compressed capital block lettering against a stippled background. The memorial is on the top of a drystone wall on the south side of the road opposite the junction with Warehouse Lane at National Grid Reference SK 16005 83413. The aeroplane was a Vickers Armstrong Wellington Mk 3 HF613 coded DD-R, from No 22 Operational Training Unit, RAF Wellesbourne Mountford, No 1 Group, Bomber Command. It crashed close to the village of Hope on 15 February 1943. Sergeant Wilkinson is additionally commemorated on WMO/293530.
