The Indian King and Queen pieces sit within two elaborate roofed howdahs, whilst the British King and Queen sit in two un-roofed howdahs with the Queen holding a parasol. The Indian bishop piece is an ox and the knight piece is mounted on a camel. The British bishop piece is a lion and the knight piece is mounted on a pony. The pawns are carved as Indian soldiers and British soldiers. All chess pieces are carved in detail.
