About the memorial: A wooden cross with an oblong brass plaque. The plaque has an incised inscription in upright capital block lettering. The memorial lies adjacent to debris from the aircraft. The pin location is indicative only. The exact location is about 2km northwest of Upper Booth in the Hope Valley. In remote inhospitable moorland on the southwestern flank of Kinder Plateau, between Jacob's Ladder and Pym Chair, a few metres south of the un-named footpath between Noe Stool, Pym Chair and Crowdon Tower at National Grid Reference SK 08895 86835. He may not have died in a combat situation when he died but he was on active training service, and the UK Roll of Honour recognises that he was on active service. The location is remote and intending visitors must be suitably experienced and equipped for challenging terrain.
