About the memorial: Additional wording to the inscription on a family gravestone comprising white marble kerbs with broad chamfers which bear inlaid inscriptions in upright capital lettering. The kerbs have a reference number inlaid at the foot and are accompanied by a white marble stone and two vases on the surface of the grave. The oblong stone has a pedimented top, moulded base and the memorial plaque (death penny) of Norman Victor Barber inlaid in the face. An oblong white marble vase bears a further inscription but a round vase has no inscription. The entire grave has been significantly disturbed with some kerbs and foundation stones displaced and overturned and it is not obviously clear that the inscribed vase belongs to this grave. Much of the lettering has been lost from the kerbs. The memorial is northeast of the middle of the cemetery, east of the path.

Some war memorials are not eligible for funding from War Memorials Trust.
Further information is provided on our helpsheet ‘Definition of a war memorial for funding purposes’.

As a conservation charity which gives grants War Memorials Trust can support repair and conservation works that follow best conservation practice. Grants are awarded from funds raised by the charity so money available is limited and is therefore focused on eligible war memorials.

War Memorials Trust’s Definition of a war memorial for funding purposes helpsheet explains which war memorials are eligible and ineligible for funding.

As a charity, War Memorials Trust relies on voluntary donations and every contribution, no matter how large or small, makes a really big difference to our work. Your donation will help protect and conserve war memorials for future generations so please support War Memorials Trust’s work.
