About the memorial: Additional wording to the inscription on a family gravestone. The gravestone comprises a white marble headstone with reverse curve top and hollow sides, and bearing an inlaid inscription in upright capital block lettering. The headstone is accompanied by oblong white marble kerbs with the maker's name inlaid at the foot. The memorial is towards the southern boundary of the cemetery, opposite Millfield Road. As a Civilian on a non-combatant ship, albeit lost in an act of war, he was not, and still is not eligible for commemoration by CWGC.
