Status: On original site
Type: Freestanding
Location: External
Setting: Within a garden/park/churchyard/enclosure/Marketplace
Description: Addition to Gravestone
Materials:
  • Stone Limestone
Lettering: Leaded
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: An addition to the wording on a family gravestone. The tall limestone headstone has a pointed arch top, triple-stepped and sloping shoulders and recessed sides. It has a narrow inlaid border with an ornate Christograph inlaid at the head and an inlaid inscription in mixed styles of lettering. The headstone surmounts an oblong base with bevelled top. The memorial is roughly in the middle of the western half of the graveyard (the left when entering on the path). There is clearly more to research about this man's life story as he was born at Mackworth, but served with the Australian Army and his father was a Vicar in Canada at the time of WW1.
