Setting: Within a garden/park/churchyard/enclosure/Marketplace
Description: Addition to Gravestone
Materials:
  • Stone Granite
Lettering: Incised

  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: Additional lettering on a headstone on a family grave. The upright polished grey granite headstone has a shallow triangular arch top, battered sides and the wreath badge of the Royal Flying Corps in shallow relief at the head. The incised inscription is in upright capital block lettering coloured white. The headstone surmounts a plain oblong granite base. It is about 30 metres west of the Church. As he is the primary person mentioned it could be argued that this is technically a Stone of Remembrance, not an Addition to gravestone
