About the memorial: Originally a rectangular white marble tablet on a rectangular black marble backboard but skilfully enlarged by the addition of WW2 panels. The WW1 tablet is surmounted by a moulded cornice and a decorative pediment depicting a Latin cross on a pedestal superimposed on a sword, a Union Flag and sprigs of oak and laurel leaves, all carved in relief. The main panel bears the inscription and the name list in four columns. The lower plain panel bears the WW2 commemoration in a similar style. The inscription and names are incised in mainly upright capital lettering coloured black with rubricated initials, the four columns outlined in black incised lines. The maker's name is incised at the bottom left corner of the original backboard.
