About the memorial: A rectangular panel , the longer axis horizontal ,the corners indented , attached to the side of a public transport bus. A group of poppies painted in natural colours then the inscription painted in black . This was one of 26 such named vehicles in the Ensign Buses Fleet. Originally they were only so liveried from 4 May 2015 (the centenary of the death of Purfleet's first casualty) until 11 November 2018 (the centenary of the death of Purfleet's last casualty). One was named for each casualty of Purfleet. Ensign Bus also produced a booklet about the 26 men, which was sold at Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre to raise funds for the centre. It was subsequently decided that the names will remain on each vehicle until either it is repainted or it is sold to another operator. Each vehicle also has internal signage.
